To create installs, most installers are either scripting based or GUI-based. SSE Setup is GUI-based with a logical & well-thought-out interface, but you can manually edit if you prefer. SSE Setup is purposely not scripting-based because it was designed from the getgo to do what the vast majority of installs need and do it much easier than you having to learn a new scripting language. And you can still run external programs/scripts if you need to perform custom stuff. This design decision is largely why SSE Setup is "Simple, Smart, Easy". For ultra-complex installs or non-typical type installs, SSE Setup may or may not be an ideal fit, but otherwise, you can probably get to your finished end-result in a whole lot less time with SSE Setup.
